According to the Poisons, Opium and Other Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, any person who is in possession of 2g from heroin will be punished with death. So the law has been upheld.

drug lords are specialist in hiding evidence thats why its very hard to prosecute them for the actual crimes commited in a court of law, in the end the final verdict which is the highest possible punishment that was given to him so it doesnt matter if it was 1000 kg or 1g justice has been served

Al Capone was eventually jailed for proven tax evasion although it was known that he was behind many murders, drug deals and bootlegging, all of which could not be proved.

Since the death sentence has not been sanctioned as yet, those sentenced to death should be kept in isolation to feel the pain that victims faced because of them. Leaving them in the open with the other prisoners will not serve the purpose.

What a joke. This amount of drugs is only the tip of the iceberg. Much, much more has been , both, smuggled in and out of the country in a well organised manner, and is known to key administrators. In some of the raids, concerning various valuable items, in many cases, only what is sufficient for prosecution and promotion merits, are produced and the rest is either pilfered or diverted to the pockets of certain people. The Peliyagoda policeman involved in such a case, is also the tip of the huge dump. These statistics are only good for bedtime stories.

Remember it iwas GR who had him caught in Karachchi and brought down to SL. Ironically he landed in Colombo on 9th Jan. We must not be afraid to give due credit.

So many crimes are done by people and escape from being behind bars. This is not a fair judgment imposing death sentence for possessing of 7.05 grams of heroin.
