All charges related to driving licences up



The charges related to all services when issuing driving licences, including learner's permits under the normal and one-day services, have been increased.

An extraordinary gazette notification (2301/17) on this  was issued yesterday under the signature of the Transport Minister, describing the situation.

As such, the charges to obtain an application for a learner's permit and a new driving licence, re-applying for the driving licence written test, application for a pair of "L Plates", re-applying for driving licence practical test, adding new classes of vehicles to the existing driving licence, renewal or extension of the validity period of a driving licence, issuing a duplicate of a driving licence for the existing validity period, issuing a duplicate of a driving licence for the existing validity period due to loss of the driving licence, issuing an extract of driving licence, changing the particulars of a driving licence, conversion of the existing driving licence into new driving licence, conversion of an international driving licence into new driving licence, in respect of a locals and foreign citizens, issuing a driving licence to a foreign citizen, issuing a visitor's temporary licence for a period of one month, issuing an international driving permit and Postal Charges (including packaging, delivery and courier charges) have been increased.

Meanwhile, the levy for online verification of the details of a driving licence issued by the Motor Traffic Department, on an application made by a Sri Lankan citizen overseas by e-mail through the relevant Sri Lankan Embassy or High Commission. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
