Bread prices likely to increase by Rs. 5: Bakery Owners’

The price of a loaf of bread will likely be increased by Rs. 5 following a meeting held today, the bakery owners said.

According to them, Prima Ceylon (Private) Limited and Serendib Flour Mills (Pvt) Ltd have raised wheat flour prices by Rs.10 this morning.

"We have received the relevant flour stocks for the bakery products at the increased price. Therefore, we have decided to increase the price of bakery items. Accordingly, the price of a loaf of bread would be increased by Rs. 5 and the authority to increase the prices of other bakery items would be made according to the bakery owners' without inconveniencing the consumers," the bakery owners' said. 

The exact decision on the price increase will be taken following the meeting today. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
