COVID vaccine for those who embark on foreign employment: SLBFE

The Government had decided to administer Covid-19 vaccines for all those who will be leaving Sri Lanka to take up foreign employment from next week, Foreign Employment Bureau (FEB) media spokesman and Deputy Manager Mangala Randeniya said.

The decision was taken following instructions of Foreign Employment Promotion and Market Diversification State Minister Piyankara Jayaratne and FEB Chairman Kamal Ratwatte.

The President's atention was also drawn to vaccinate the persons who leave the country for foreign employement and the persmission was granted by the chief of Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak Task Force Army Commander Shavendra Silva.

Only the people who are scheduled to leave the country to take up foreign jobs and for those who have received their job visas and employment contract.

The FEB requested to people concerned to contact the department through 1989 to for more details. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

what the country needs now is foreign currency. Government cannot ask its own citizens to pay for getting vaccinated. If this was organized properly, people will feel confident to go for foreign jobs. Ths jabs will facilitate a safe journey and in turn earn some foreign currency to the country. Even a family cannot be run without income, how can a country be? This is a good and fair move to encourage people who returned from foreign employment due to Covid, to get back to their jobs again.

Do we need to pay for vaccine also like how we pay insurance fee before leaving? This is also another tricks to earn money thru the men and women who leave for foreign employment jobs in middle eastern countries,, why the government still not taking care of the person who return to sri lanka for vacation and they have compulsory quarantine in hotels for a day until we get the negative results and then go home and quarantine in homes for 14 days, when the SLBFE CAN TAKE THE INSURANCE MONEY SO THEY SHOULD BEAR THE COST, FOR PCR TEST. THERE IS NO BENEFIT AT ALL FOR THOSE WHO RETURN BACK TO COUNTRY, THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS ONLY OUR FOREIGN REMITTANCES AND THEY ENJOY BUY BUYING LUXURY FOR THEMSELVES.
