Canadian MP claims SL Govt. refused to grant him visa

The Sri Lankan Government has reportedly refused to grant a visa to Canadian MP Gary Anandasangaree.

Anandasangaree, also Parliamentary Secretary to a Cabinet minister had once called Sri Lanka “a failed and bankrupt state” when Sri Lanka received an IMF bailout.

MP Anandasangaree tweeted alleging that he has been refused a visa because of the work he does.

“Free speech apparently is allowed when it suits the government. Burning effigies will not correct the failures of consecutive GOSLs. Regrettably, Sri Lanka has refused my visa out right. It’s reprisal for the work we do. We will not be silenced,” he tweeted.

Irrelevant!! 1. He was never an MP in SL!! 2. None can deny Visa on the basis he is a Canadian MP or any other country's!!! 3. His being Canadian MP, is his business solely and that of Canadian Citizens whom he represents! 4. Are you proposing to deny Sri Lankans MEP's too (Member EU Parliament) on the same basis? If not, Why Not???? Or Is your whinging because of his race or religion not same as yours or Non-Buddhist!!???? Come CLEAN without hiding behind vague reasoning!!! My opinion, everyone irrespective of Caste, Creed, Religion, and Race should be allowed w/o restrictions!!!? The existential Problems in SL is solely because people think only discrimination on above criteria!!!?? Small Minded Scumbags and Scoundrels only this country never progresses

More than the Buddha (Now 2nd PLACE OF REFUGE) instead have the Reddish Saffron Brigade, SANGHA, (FIRST PLACE OF REFUGE), excel in giving us Protection and REFUGE, because the Laity reciprocates especially the Law, Police (Not of Morality) and MaRa, R. Bros., Inc. et all don’t care HR, to them it’s immaterial!!!? Now the important factor is Refuge in the Sangha, irrespective whatever they do, or resultant Calamity!! They'll get around UNHRC strictures and EU sanction – Deny Visa to visit SL, as if those guys are ‘BEGGING’! These JOKERS don't even after March 2022 who is begging from whom!!???? my friend I would say stay in Canada I am a Tamil living more than you in United Kingdom you all people went Canada late 80s but here in UK people came from India and Sri lanka long back, but they never say like you, and help back Sunami time. our country political mismanagement went badly affected our mother land. keep helping our country not talking nonsense. our new generations has idea to build back our country soon.

If canada can deny entry to Sri Lankan officials, over unproven wild allegations of genocide why can't Sri Lanka deny entry to Canadians who are considered inadmissible for whatever reason.

Last time when SL refused entry after issuing a visa to a senior Canadian politician and turned him back at Katunayake airport when he arrived, Canada drastically reduced its support to SL. Now refusing to a diplomatic passport-holding ruling party MP of SL origin from Canada will also have major repercussions in the future.
