Child electrocuted during Katina Perahera

A 17-year old child who was performing with fire (Gini Bola) at a Katina Perahera had died when he had come into contact with an unprotected electric wire at Dodangoda in Kalutara.

According to the police, the boy was hit by the electric wire that was laid across the road.

The child, a resident of Dodangoda was admitted to the Kalutara hospital and died this morning.

Buddhism has that persons past Karma is cause of present life suffering. Unlucky for boy to be born into a country where was most likely encouraged to participate in Buddhist celebration activity!

This has nothing to do with being born in SL or taking part in a Buddhist pageant. It can happen to someone playing the organ or drums , going in a vail procession or whilst partaking in a sawan. Or for those who don't follow any religion - whilst just sitting at home. So yes- you got it right in one aspect. Karma - that's common to everyone.

This is sad. These are man-made traditions and rituals and nothing to do with the true light of Almighty God. What a shame this child was made to play with fire.

Religious activities by all religions in Sri Lanka has made this country bankrupt. Religions are for sale in this country whether Islam, Hinduism , Christianity or Buddhism. It is a shame that a country which was was economically second only to Japan in 1948 has become a country of beggars.
