China assures support on Sri Lanka’s debt treatment: State Minister Shehan

Chinese Ambassador Qi-Zhenhong has assured their continuous support on the debt treatment and stabilizing the economy of Sri Lanka, State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe said.

"During a meeting, the Ambassador assured their support to overcome this critical situation with regard to the financial status of the country. Further, he emphasized that China, as a trustworthy friend, will always be on Sri Lanka's side." State Minister said.

The State Minister said that the Ambassador has assured they will strenthen mutual understanding and further cummunication with Sri Lanka. China will support the proposed debt treatment process of Sri Lanka, he said.

"We will never isolate Sri Lanka not only in this situation but in future too."

During the discussion the ambassador has emphasized that "China will never isolate Sri Lanka not only in this situation but in future too."

State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe said: "China is a trustworthy friend..." A man with his extensive university education cannot even believe what he has said. There is then only one other possibility and that is that he is deceiving the population and is corrupt. How can China be a friend when it: 1. Give loans for excessive interest rates up to 12%. 2. Takes 95% of the loan amount back, as China requires that all building materials and machinery be purchased from it and that only Chinese workers be employed 3. absorbs the construction projects if the installments cannot be paid 4. refuses partial debt relief. China is absolute selfish and only interested in squeezing poor countries like Sri Lanka in order to make them economically dependent and to exert political and military influence.

I love the phrases used his excellency the Chinese ambassador such as,continuous support on debt treatment,trustworthy friend and always on SriLanka’s side,never isolate,But people of country (except politicians like Sheahan)believe you are also a stakeholder of this curse, we made a blunder by elevating rogue Rajapakshas as rulers of the land and Chinese identified them are good for underhand dealings, offering high commissions and handsome bribes to acquire useless infrastructures and some loans such as borrowed for Nilwala river project which was disappeared in to thin air UN till reappear in Pandora papers,and many more according to MS,the former president, If really trustworthy and not isolating,it is must be to citizens of SriLanka, but not for already named and shamed and rejected rogues

Sri Lanka needs to align itself with Japan. Japanese contracts are sustainable and offer value for money. Get Hong Kong and Singapore to invest and do trade here. Maybe offer them offshore contracts due to their limited space and nonexistent natural resources. Running behind a flaming red dragon, will ruin what’s left of this place.
