Debate on Anti Corruption Bill likely to be postponed



The debate on the Anti-Corruption Bill which is to be taken up for debate tomorrow is likely to be postponed, sources said. Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera when contacted by the Daily Mirror said no final decision has been made on the debate yet.

"The Government has not officially infomred us about its decision. However there is speculation that the debate may be postponed," Ms. Rohanadeera said.

Meanwhile Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha said they have received information that the debate on the Bill is to be postpone. "We were to propose amendments to the Anti-Corruption Bill but now we hear that the debate will be postponed," he said. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
