Decision to lift travel restrictions on Monday not final



The government today announced that the decision taken to lift the travel restrictions on Monday 21 June is not final.

Cabinet co-spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said that a final decision will be taken closer to the date.

He told reporters today that lifting of the travel restrictions cannot be forecast.

The Minister said that if the conditions are conducive by Monday to lift the travel restrictions then it will be lifted.

The Government had announced initially that the ban will be lifted on June 7th but it was later extended till 14th June. 

However, the ban was later extended till 21st June and there is now speculation it might be extended till 28th June.(Easwaran Rutnam)
