Dilshan Madushanka replaces Dushmantha Chameera in Sri Lanka squad

Left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka was called up into the Sri Lanka squad for the remainder of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier matches, after Dushmantha Chameera was ruled out due to injury and sent back home.

Chameera was yet to feature in the tournament, having picked up a right pectoral muscle injury ahead of Sri Lanka’s first match of the tournament, and has now been ruled out of the Super Six stage.

Sri Lanka will play their first Super Six match against the Netherlands tomorrow.

Chameera will now return home and engage in a rehabilitation program at the High Performance Center at the RPICS, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said.

Madushanka was among four players that Sri Lanka sent to Zimbabwe as stand by, having impressed during the recent South Africa ‘A’ series.

Sri Lanka will also face hosts Zimbabwe and two-time World Cup winners West Indies in the Super Six stage, needing to finish in the top two teams to qualify for the Cricket World Cup in India later this year.
