File stolen from former AG’s Office

An investigation has been launched by the Criminal Investigations Department following a complaint that a file has been taken away by an unidentified person from the office of former Attorney General Dappula de Livera.

The CID has informed Colombo Additional Magistrate T.N.L Ilangasinghe yesterday about the progress of the investigations into the incident.

The CID also informed the additional magistrate that they have taken over the investigations into the incident from the Narahenpita Police.

Initial investigations revealed that on the night of November 11, 2022, an unidentified man had arrived in a white van entered the office of the former Attorney General at Longdon Place, Colombo 7 and taken away one file after searching all the files at the office.

According to the CCTV footage, the suspect had spent about ten minutes inside the office searching the files.(Nimanthi Ranasingha)
