Firm solutions imperative to overcome present political instability: GMOA

Firm and permanent solutions should be in place to overcome the present political instability in the country and to restore every sector, including health, while ensuring the basic needs of the people, the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) said.

GMOA media committee member, Dr. Prasad Kolabage stated that the people of the country wanted to change the country's corrupted and failed politics and seek solutions to the country's ongoing economic, political and social issues to find a way to overcome the current fuel, domestic gas and electricity crisis.

Among all the efforts of the people, certain political parties and individuals are trying to label the public effort by claiming that it was done with their support, he said.

"The interest in providing basic needs of the people and achieving those goals is gradually decreasing." There is a severe fuel crisis in the country. No sufficient fuel has been allowed to the health sector as yet.

Therefore, the hospital sector is staring a shutdown due to the health workers being unable to report for their duties, "Dr. Kolabage said.

He added that no one had come forward to discuss and suggest sustainable solutions. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
