First batch of Chinese tour group in 2023 reaches BIA



While resuming the arrival of Chinese tourists for the current year, the first Chinese tourist group arrived at Katunayake International Airport last night.

Accordingly, 117 Chinese tourists have arrived in the country on a seven-day visit.

They touched down at the airport at 11.10 pm from Guanzhou International Airport in China in special SriLankan Airlines flight.

Tourism Minister Harin Fernando and Foreign Affairs State Minister Taraka Balasuriya greeted the group. The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Chee Changhong, the Chairman of the Tourism Promotion Bureau, Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of the Airport and Aviation Service Company Limited G.A. Chandrasiri and a large number of officials gathered at the airport.

From April 1, it has been decided to resume operating nine scheduled flights per week between China and Sri Lanka by SriLankan Airlines and China's Eastern Airlines.

Both airlines are expected to bring 5,000 Chinese tourists to Sri Lanka. (T.K.G. Kapila)
