Five-member expert committee for quick solutions to principal service


A five-member committee has been appointed by Education Minister Susil Premajayantha to look into the issues of the Sri Lanka Principals Service.

The Committee report is scheduled to be submitted within the next two months.

The Committee, consisting of five experts in the fields of education and administration, including Professor Gunapala Nanayakkara, who was the advisor to the Ministry, has already started its work.

All the Principals' Associations have been given until May 9 to present their proposals.

Arrangements have also been made to hold interviews with union organizations starting May 15 to gather information from experts and to visit the Provincial Zonal Offices and some selected schools to investigate the current situation of the role of school Principals.

The Minister has advised proposing measures to strengthen the Principal's Service by applying the proposed education reforms. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
