Four more suspects including two main suspects wanted over the incident of recovering the bodies of two young men who went missing in the Hurimaluwa area in Rambukkana, were arrested today by the Crimes Division of the Kegalle Police.
Police said the two main suspects, Mohamed Nisar Mohamed Farhan alias ‘Hurimaluwe Farhan’, Abdul Latif Mohamed and two other suspects who aided and abetted to the heinous crime were arrested in Puttalam Town on Thursday.
The bodies of the two young men were found buried in rear side of a house in Hurimaluwa, Rambukkana, which is said to be owned by a drug dealer residing in the area, on January 12.
Two persons, identified as Mohammad Iqbal Mohammad Azhar (26) and Mohammad Anwar Mohammad Arshad (28) were residents of Kiringadeniya and Keraminiya Watta in Mawanella, were reported missing on 19 and 28 November last year, following which an investigation was launched to find them, based on complaints made by the relatives of the missing duo.
Four of the main suspects, who were involved in the murder, including ‘Hurimaluwe Farhan’, who fled the area while two of them were arrested in Mawanella and Welioya on January 15.
Police brought two main suspects yesterday to the house, in which the crime alleged to have been committed, for further questioning.
Accordingly, the police recovered two swords and a steel rod from the Hurimaluwe Farhan's father's house.
Police said all the four suspects who had been arrested would be produced before the Kegalle Magistrate's Court on Friday (20). (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
