French President to make brief visit to SL tomorrow

French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to make a brief visit to Colombo tomorrow night (28) while returning from Papua New Guinea and will hold discussions with President Ranil Wickremesinghe, official sources confirmed to the Daily Mirror.

The visiting French President is scheduled to stay for a few hours in Colombo, the official added. Last month President Wickremesinghe was in France on an official visit, on the invitation of his French counterpart Macron to address a high-level panel discussion in Paris at the Global Leaders’ Summit for a New Global Financing Pact.

According to the French media, President Macron is currently on a visit to the south-west Pacific region in a “historic” visit designed to bolster his Indo-Pacific strategy and reaffirm France’s role in the region.(Sunil Jayasiri)

There is a simiilarity between the French President andt the incumbent incountry as both landed on their jobs through sheer luck, but the former fought an election as a novice with the backing of all the parties who wanted to thwart the far-right candidate from winning the election but the latter coming thro the back door to the legislature on contract/ proxy of the ruler who was humiliated by his own electorate who had voted for him and the incumbent here now trying to be a hero claiming he had restored the country to normalcy ignoring the fact that who turned this country to an abnormal mess.
