Govt using three ploys to thwart NPP election victory: AKD

The government is adopting three ploys to prevent the National Peoples' Power (NPP) from coming to power as it has become scared after seeing that there was a massive people’s force rallying round the party, NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

He said the government is postponing the elections, trying to get the support of all the organizations and trying to incite racial and religious clashes to prevent such a power change.

Addressing a gathering in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend, he said rulers in Sri Lanka are scared of people being exposed to the world and said that is why they try to criticize the Sri Lankan migrant workers.

He said NPP members who represent a vast section of society could also make mistakes just like others in society.

What is important is to implement the law against everyone equally, he added.

"I never say NPPers don't make mistakes. It applies to any society. What is important is to implement the law equally against everyone," he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)
