The Examination Department today announced the date for the 2023 Grade Five Scholarship Examination.

Accordingly, the examination will be conducted on October 15 (Sunday). Calling applications for the exam will start today, and the closing date for accepting applications will be July 15.

Submitting applications online will not be accepted after midnight on July 6, and the department also announced that the application acceptance date will not be extended in any case.

Candidates from government-approved private schools are only permitted to submit the applications.

The scholarships will be awarded to low-income students who fulfill their age requirement of less than 11 years or more than 10-years.

Utterly useless and pathetic exam Thursday, 15 June 2023 07:54 PM

The Grade 5 exam and the O levels are perversion of our education with roots in Colonial doctrine. The overly exams should be canceled for a few years and if there is some overwhelming practical benefit they could be re introduce, but ending them for a few years is necessary to see what real benefit they to the nation.

No need to cancel the exams particularly the scholarship exam as long as the government policy is for free education what introduced by Honourable Mr. CWW Kannangara. No experiments can be done on education and the O/L, too shall not be cancelled since it gives the weak students to pass and show their capabilities to open vocational trainings, accordingly.
