Gulf-based migrant workers to be given exposure to Arabian culture



A discussion was held this morning about providing adequate preliminary training in Arabic culture and language for skilled and unskilled Sri Lankan workers who are leaving for gulf countries for jobs.

The discussion took place this morning at the Education Ministry between the Education Minister and the members of the Arab Council, comprising nine countries in the Arab League.

The leader of the Arab Council in Sri Lanka, Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Zuhair M. H. Dar Zaid, was joined in this discussion by three high-level diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Egypt.

A discussion also included higher education scholarships and student exchange programs, a Ministry official said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
