Colombo, October 26 (Daily Mirror) - Actor turned politician Ranjan Ramanyake today said major political parties have got alarmed after he decided to come back into politics.

"Petitions are filed by major political parties against my decision to enter into the fray as they are alarmed over my re-entry into politics," Ramanyake said at a United Democratic Voice meeting in Colombo today.

He pledged to overcome communal and religious hatred.

Well known, Ranjan says Election Commission and lawyers says he is free like others, with Rani's Pardon of him. Supreme Court has to now assess the freedoms provided by Ranil to Ranjan compared to the verdict they gave.

If contested from a party, he would have won with respect. He should have contested from SJB and stayed neutral if he wanted. SJB supported him in his prison stay. SP did everin his power and got Manusha and Harin to do the needful by send them to make complaints against the government in Geneva, even though the 2 of them changed colors later fir thhere personalbenifits.. So if you say unfaithful it is correct. Now joining hands with Lyca and getting backing from him makes his policies dubious.

Ranjan would know he would be challenged, and would face the Supreme Court again. The laws which convicted him are already most third-world grade, not that of democracy. Whatever Ranjan has said and done, what will turn out with challenging Ranjan is more a show of how democracy works in Sri Lanka, rather than being about Ranjan as an individual anymore. Unfairness to any individual is wrong, but attacking him for his personality and his speaking up seems too much.
