Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa claimed today that he is a degree holder and tabled all his certificates in Parliament.
"I attended Kindergarten at St. Bridget's Convent and then joined S. Thomas Prep for my Primary Education. I studied at Royal from Grade six but sat for my Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations at Milhill College UK. I joined the University of London and obtained by first degree. However, I could not complete my Masters as I returned to Sri Lanka in 1993 after my father's death and took up politics. However, later I joined the University of Maryland, US and then did a Masters degree at the Open University. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya was my lecturer at the Open University," he said.
Premadasa tabled all his educational cirtificates in the House.

The way he speaks English and his typical lexicon make me wonder if he had studied all these courses while residing in SL. ((Certainly not trying to look down upon anyone or anything, but just pointing out something I see.))

He says in his speech that he sat for his Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations at Milhill College UK. He joined the University of London and obtained by first degree. So may be he picked up the lexicon in UK.

Sajith is the only opposition leader who worked for the public while being in the opposition, rather than delivering rhetoric speeches though you try to divert the attention as NPP failed to fulfill the promises that was to be solved in 24 hrs. But knelt down before mill owners. Honourable DS Senanayake studied up to grade 4 or so and did many work for for agriculture unlike Anura as the minister of agriculture of the Chandrika government . But they didn't boost about their educational qualifications without genuinely having or achieved them.

Now these certifaces may have to be authenticated by his critics including Ravi Karunanayake. Further wonder is our Prime Minister remembers lecturing him at Open University as SP claims. If yes let her explain to her colleagues so that this stops. Suggest all degree holders submit there educational certificates to the parliment so that this subject stops and wasting time. However bogus properganda generated by people to contest elections and also have there bogus titles on there names should be prosecuted and served some jail time too. Loosing there civic rights should also be considered.

I have watched his speech and based on what he said, just want to let you know that Sajith had started his Master Degree at Maryland but due to his father's untimely death he did not complete. Later on, he started again a Master Degree at Open University but he did not complete it due to his busy schedule. Therefor, he has not got a Master Degree yet but he has certainly completed and graduated from his Bachelors Degree at LSC, UK

That's what he said from the start. He never completed his Masters.

What he is not telling is that after first year studies of the degree program he submitted a medical certificate that due to mental stress associated conditions prevent him continuing with studies. After the university accepted it, the degree was awarded on compassionate grounds. He was following this degree program under the slot created for the family members of commonwealth leaders, not on merit of London AL examination results. Could you please deny this and submit each year examination transcripts?

You are nobody to ask for a request like this. Either enter parliment by contesting or get a elected member to ask so. Now if there is an issue, the people who requested for this will ask for it. Bloody insane people who are jobless is going after something which is not that important when there are burning issues in the country. SP didn't go with a title of doctor or anything else . It was the speaker who contested with this bogus title which was pointed out and challenged by the former election commissioner Now these blinded jobless idiots are just going after it to cover up the blunder of the NPP.

Don, Are you claiming you were on the LSE or whatever Educational Institute, to declare "what you are alluding to"!!?? Otherwise please don't waste valuable Parliament time!!?? That's Sacrilege and waste of State Funds!!?? My Take, SJ has credible witness (in the same Parliament – certify/accredit the claim of sorts) to at least he made a sincere attempt at educating himself and to be wise!!??

ROHAN DE SILVA Wednesday, 18 December 2024 08:00 PM
This is not true. The Masters degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka, for instance, was awarded in 2022. There are press reports from that time, should you wish to search for them ,that shows SP attending the final examination for his Masters, earlier in 2022 and obtaining his master, later in 2022.

It was reported in the past that his degree from the University of London was aegrotat and actually didn’t sit the exams. He appears to have conveniently forgotten to mention this.

Asoka Ranwala told that he was a non medical doctor and canvassed for votes and found that could not prove it since he is another liar of NPP and cropped up this to cover up the NPPs disability to fulfill the promises that was to be solved in 24 hrs. But knelt down before mill owners. Honourable DS Senanayake studied up to grade 4 or so and did many work for for agriculture unlike Anura as the minister of agriculture of the Chandrika government . But they didn't boost about their educational qualifications without genuinely having or achieved them. It is disgraceful in every sense.

Now other MPs will also have to show their certificates of the qualifications they claimed to possess, specially NPP MPs who claimed to possess such as PhDs, Dr (Medicine), Bachelor's Degrees, status of Advocate, Chartered Accountants and Engineers etc. Those who possess qualifications obtained by sitting for the examination in a separate room will not be counted.

Sajith says, "I joined the University of London and obtained by first degree." But which of the separate universities in UL did you join, Sajith? LSE, Kings College, UCL (University College), etc? Isnt that on yr degree certificate? I'm sure it's (UCL) on mine tho I havent looked at it for over 50 years. I didnt even attend the award ceremony as I was travelling abroad

Now his lecturer is lecturing some political lessons instead of sociology and it is good to have such teacher / student relation in the parliament as well : what a good connection is this ? At least no one can question this position of Dr Harini as PM : She was elected unanimously :

Yohan Thursday, 19 December 2024 12:28 AM
So now it is upto government side top members to prove the educational quaqualifications as they are he ones who govern the country not opposition parties or leaders. Also Harini should reveal how he got the open uni job. Did GL help you to get that job. Also Jayatissa should reveal how he worked at ministry in early days of his career. Which ministers power was used to get that opportunity. Also AKD should show his degree too or people will believe he has not completed it either just like Bimal.

Another well crafted distraction to divert public attention away from vital issues. Most MPs whose educational qualifications were questioned didn't contest the election. They were appointed from the national list which must be abolished.

Adwani Thursday, 19 December 2024 11:03 AM
You are no different from those who are not qualified, since you betrayed the general public by failing to takeover the ruined economy, from Gota the Bandit. Now you are looking for a Cake baked by Ranil, ready to eat and sit and shit in the Parliament, like Anura.
