I was removed through a ‘Boardroom coup’: Former SLT Chairman

Rohan Fernando who has been removed from the post of Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) today claimed that a ‘Boardroom coup’ took place to remove him from the position, suggesting that moves were underway to facilitate the sale of the state-owned enterprise.

Rohan Fernando revealed that he has been removed from his post following a decision of the Board of Directors.

"I believe that I may have been an obstacle in this process," he said.

Wasn't he asked to resign months ago? If he thought that he was being smart by delaying and dodging the request he was wrong. So given he did not take the opportunity to resign with pride, he now seems to have been removed in shame. The son in law of a long standing politician, the husband of a co-partner of the advertising agency attributed to promoting and marketing the election of the previously failed and ousted president. He was never suited to head the SLT which is basically a technology business and quite different to the tea business. He was both the product and failure of gross nepotism.
