IGP interdicts Monaragala SSP

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Monaragala, Sisira Kumara who was arrested by the STF with cannabis plants at his residence, has been interdicted with immediate effect by IGP C.D. Wickramaratne.

Police said he was interdicted under the covering approval of the National Police Commission.

SSP Kumara and five others were arrested on January 9 with more than 600 cannabis plants grown at his official residence in Monaragala.

Later, the suspect was handed over to the CID and detained for further questioning.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

If so, IGPs concerned regarding the same issue acted on Monaragala SSP, then, IGPs serving Island wide should ARREST more than 50% of police officers who are the ones that engage in issuing youngsters cannabis, ICE, KG etc.

It took several days for the interdiction. He is still not remanded for possessing such a big quantity of Cannabis and other material. Why. Any other person would be in remand from day one

A couple of important questions for the Sri Lanka police who can't even shoot straight: From where did this "goma" of a SSP get imported fertilizer to get his cannabis plants to thrive? Did he pay income tax from the sale of proceeds from cannabis? Agricultural expert
