Johnston Fernando and two others released from a corruption case

Former Minister Johnston Fernando and two others were today ordered to be released from a corruption case by the Colombo High Court.

High Court judge Namal Balalle ordered to release three accused from the case taking into consideration the preliminary objections raised by defence challenging the maintainability of the indictments.

The Bribery Commission filed this corruption case against former Minister Johnston Fernando, former CWE (Lak Sathosa) Chairman Eraj Fernando and former Minister’s Private Secretary Raj Mohideen Mohammad Sakeer for allegedly causing an unlawful loss to the government by employing the employees of the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment (CWE) for election work during the period 2011.(Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Former DG of the Bribery Comm appointed by Ranil in 2015 filed these cases with flaws may be to enable the culprits to escape. Ranil appointed this person and Arjun Mahendran. He should bear the blame.

The bribery commission do not file the cases properly, intentionally. This time too, the commissioners have not signed like before so no validity in it. Then, Johnston like politicians say that he was so innocent and the independent courts upheld as cases filed merely to sling mud. What a deal it is. For money, indeed.
