Action should be taken against the Principal of the Law College as he has defied the decision made by Parliament with regard to allowing students to sit for the exams in their respective mother tongues, several MPs alleged today.
MP Dayasiri Jayasekera requested Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene to take action against the principal as he had defied the decision made by Parliament.
“The gazette notification under which a regulation was imposed to conduct law examinations in English was defeated in Parliament on March 21, 2023. Therefore exams at Law College cannot be conducted in English. The next examination is due on April 24. Also the Law College Principal is conducting a campaign against conducting law exams in Sinhala and Tamil. How can he do this,” the MP questioned.
