Majority of SLFP MPs will remain with govt.: Roshan Ranasinghe
Majority of SLFP MPs will remain with the government, even if one or two decide to leave, SLPP Polonnaruwa District MP Roshan Ranasinghe told Parliament today.
Mr. Ranasinghe came out with this remark in response to the remarks made by former President Maithripala Sirisena who hit out at the government on Thursday.
“ Mr. Sirisena said he will hit us in a different way. Zahran’s attack may be one of the different hits he talked about. Majority of SLFP MPs will stay with us even if one or two decide to leave ,” the MP said.
“The Former President said I have carried tales to Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage who criticised him earlier. I have no habit of carrying tales as I am a person who tells what I got to say to the face. Mr. Sisirsana is making use of fertilizer issue to get political mileage in the Polonnaruwa District. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa made a policy decision to promote using organic fertilizer after consulting SLFP MPs as well,” he said.
MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna who responded said Mr. Sirisena should have been told about the statement which Mr. Ranasinghe was going to make. Mr. Sisiena should have been informed so that he could have been here. It is absurd confronting each other in the House. However we also have a lot to say if the criticism against us continue,” he said.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
