More than 700 arrested over Easter Sunday attack: Defence Secretary

Some 735 suspects have been arrested in connection with the Easter Sunday attack, Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne said.

Addressing a media briefing held at the Government Information Department, he said that 196 of those arrested have been remanded while 493 persons were released on bail so far.

He said charges have also being filed against 81 suspects in various High Courts.

The Defence Secretary also said that 27 cases have been filed against 79 suspects under 25,653 charges in various High Courts in the country.

He said Police and the CID detained 29 under detention orders and investigations are still being carried out.

So are you telling us that at least 740 persons were involved in this plot and it went undetected? Or is this simply a case of arresting anyone and everyone even tangentially and remotely connected just to be seen to be doing something. This is not justice for the innocent dead and injured. This is even more injustice for Sri Lankan citizens. We need the actual culprits, the enablers and the masterminds arrested, tried and all given the death penalty.
