Mystery surrounding Schaffter’s murder yet to be solved: Over 75 persons questioned

Statements from more than 75 persons including almost all the family members of murdered businessman Dinesh Schaffter have been recorded so far, police said yesterday.

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa however said the suspects involved in the murder have not been identified so far.

"Also, further statements are being recorded based on the new information received through these testimonies. So far, no suspect has been identified in this regard," he said.

Meanwhile, footage of CCTV and telephone recordings including Schaffter’s wife, Shaffter's executive officer, the cemetery worker as well as an office worker are still being analysed at the moment.

Also, the Police are now analysing mobile phone data and bank accounts of Schaffter as well as 16 other bank accounts based on two NIC number details obtained by the Police. (DSB)

This investigation will go on like this for another next 2 weeks ,his family members and all other parties will forget this ,also thread can be send to them at least to safeguard living people and his business,without no option family members also will agree and case will be pending like this for next many years . But still culprits are known to authority very well Good luck

Joke. Clearly there is a bigger story with the creeping into the cemetery with short eats. There will a push now to suppress the reals story coming out. Not easy in the day of social media but money talks.

The crime has still not been solved. However people can take satisfaction by listening to the POLICE SPOKESMAN TALDUWA 's boast made regularly about the Statements Recorded from umpteen persons, Umpteen Teams sent to catch the suspects Umpteen CCTV Camera Records being studied etc.

It seems CID is also considering the possibility of suicide. Remember the 'Sathasivam' case. It was proved that Mrs. Sathasivam was killed by a 'Wangediya' and the accused was acquitted. . Considering the performance of CID, the quality of prosecutors, political interference, and the Judiciary system, it is not necessary to have a lawyer of the calibre of Dr. Colvin R de Silva but an ordinary lawyer will be able to convince the courts that Mr. Schaffter was not murdered and it was the wire around the neck of Mr . Schaffter's caused his death and not by an action of human beings.

It is insane to think it is suicide. You can't strangle yourself even if you try hard. My guess is the killer held clorophom to make him unconscious. While strangling he will not know if he died because victim will not struggle. So the incomoete job. Hand tie and wire matching home wire could lead to a known person. The killer is not stupid so plants misleading info.
