President received at the Independence Day celebration
The 75th Independence Day celebration has begun at the Galle Face Green this morning, and President Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived at the scene at 8.25 am.
The President and First Lady were received by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Public Administration Ministry Secretary Neil Hapuhinna.
This is the first independence celebration to be held after President Ranil Wickremesinghe took office.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Defence Secretary, three armed forces chiefs, foreign diplomats, ambassadors, religious dignitaries, ministers and many other state officials are also present on this occasion. (Chatruanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
