Following talks with the Minister, the Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association (SLPPTOA) has to called off its trade union action and resume fuel distribution from today.
The Association's Secretary, Shantha Silva, told the Daily Mirror that the Minister agreed to a 17 pay hike from March 14 and advised to pay the arrears which remain from January before March 25.
Meanwhile, they were advised to pay the remaining increments from April 1 once discussions with the responsible authorities.
The SLPPTOA refrained from transporting fuel from last night for not revising the formula as per the recent fuel price hike.
Earlier, the association expected the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to increase transport charges for fuel distribution by 60%. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
