Roshan Mahanama urges people to keep the pressure

Former Sri Lankan cricket legend Roshan Mahanama today urged people to keep the pressure and show their disappointment in a very peaceful manner without harming themselves and damaging any property of the country.

“As a true patriot of this country, I urge everyone to keep the pressure and show your disappointment in a very peaceful manner without harming yourselves and damaging any property of the country.

"Since I have no respect for most of the leaders of our country, I’m of the opinion that we have to come together to hold our leaders accountable for their actions. I request every citizen irrespective of race, religion or political background to come forward to join the protests," he tweeted.

The former legend also joined a peaceful public protest in Colombo few days ago against the prevailing situation in the country.

This protest will do no good for Sri Lanka. Only thing you need to do is forget about Covid 19 and learn to live with it. Open borders without strict quarantines. Russia has started exchange gold for commodities. Which Sri Lanka can use it for now and have minimum 6 months stock of Gas and medicines. Let the people live their normal life. Boost your economy with tourism. Sri Lanka is the only country in the world that effected its economy so much in this covid because of a stupid government.

This is an opportunity to change the current political system and operation. Politicians are supposed to serve the people; but not other way as it is now. There should be guidelines and basic educational qualifications to be a President, PM, Ministers and Permanent Secretaries. Sri Lankans listen to their mind; not head. We do not treat others with respect; eg. go to any government institution or banks. Until the above happens, I do not see the beginning of prosperity to Sri Lankans.
