Sailor abducts woman from Piliyandala for breaking affair

The Piliyandala Police has launched an investigation after a 27-year old woman from Piliyandala was kidnapped by a sailor of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Police said a complaint was lodged with the Piliyandala Police claiming that the woman, a resident of Pelenwatta, Piliyandala was kidnapped on Saturday by the suspect in a motorcycle.

It was revealed that the suspect, a resident of Medawachchiya who was a married man, had an illicit affair with the woman.

Investigations revealed that the woman had broken the affair with the suspect six months ago.

Then, the suspect had threatened the woman on a number of occasions for having severed the affair.

The suspect is yet to be arrested for the abduction. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
