A special tourist train from Kandy to Ella will be operational from today, the Railways Department said.

They said this special train will leave Kandy at 7.00 am and reach Demodara at 2.20 pm. During the journey, the train stops at Peradeniya, Nawalapitiya, Hatton (2 minutes), Great Western, Nanuoya, Eljin waterfall (2 minutes), Pattipola, Summit Level (2 minutes), Ohiya end of tunnel No. 18 (3 minutes), Ohiya, Idalgashinna, Windbreak (3 minutes), Haputale, Kithl Ella (3 minutes) and on the 9 Arch Bridge (10 minutes).

Later the train will leave from Demodara at 3.40 pm and reach Kandy at 7.35 pm.

The main aim of running this special train is to target the local and overseas tourists.

The maiden run of this train from Kandy Railway Station will be flagged off by the Transport Minister and Railway General Manager. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
