Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India concludes term, set to return home in October

Sri Lanka's High Commissioner in New Delhi, Milinda Moragoda, is poised to conclude his term and return to Sri Lanka during the first week of October, informed sources said.

The envoy's decision to step down from his position was reportedly communicated to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Mr. Moragoda, a non-career diplomat, undertook a critical role in New Delhi after being appointed to the post by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. This strategic diplomatic assignment, one of the most prominent in Sri Lanka's Foreign Service, involved fostering and strengthening ties between the two nations.

During his time as High Commissioner, Mr. Moragoda worked out a comprehensive strategy to elevate bilateral relations with India with a focus on connectivity initiatives, including the interconnection of the power grids of Sri Lanka and India. (Kelum Bandara)
