St. Joseph's coach Nilfer Ibrahim assaulted after Kingswood match



Nilfer Ibrahim, the Head Coach of the St. Joseph's College rugby team, was assaulted after their match against Kingswood College at Pallekele.

St. Joseph's ran out comfortable winners, scoring right tries, eventually winning 48-15 in Kandy. 

Ibrahim is incidentally an old boy of Kingswood College. 

Kingswood's rugby union released a statement following the alleged incident. 

"We wish to inform you that the incident involving a parent and our esteemed Old Boy, Nilfer Ibrahim, is currently under investigation by the Kingswood Rugby Union and the school officials. It is essential to maintain the integrity of this process, " the union said. 

"Please be advised that the Kingswood Rugby Union will issue an official notice regarding this matter in due course."

Meanwhile, speaking to the Daily Mirror Ibrahim said he was receiving treatment in Kandy. 

"I am in Peradeniya General Hospital under treatment, I have an injury on my knee and hand when i got assaulted by a spectator after the match. They are treating me," Ibrahim said.
