Titans sign Zadran, Das to replace departing Kiwis

The Galle Titans have signed Najibullah Zadran and Liton Das as replacement overseas players after their New Zealand duo of Tim Seifert and Chad Bowes left the squad today.

They will join New Zealand's T20I squad for a three T20I series in the United Arab Emirates, with Seifert travelling to England afterwards for a four-match T20I series.

Seifert has been an integral part of the Titans batting line up, currently second on the top scorers list, only behind Pakistan's Babar Azam.

Seifert scored a half-century on Sunday, to keep the Titans in contention for a play-off spot, wracking up 231 runs in seven innings.

Bowes on the other hand has features just twice for the Titans this season, with a best of 22.

The Titans will face the Colombo Strikers in the final group stage match on Tuesday in a virtual knock-out match, with both teams involved in the three-way tie with defending champions the Jaffna Kings for a the two remaining play-offs spots.

All three teams have six points, though Jaffna hold the advantage over both teams, thanks to a superior net run rate.

Jaffna will progress to the next round unless the match between the Titans and the Stickers ends in a no-result and the teams share the points.
