Two youngsters killed after mound collapses on house

An eighteen year old girl and a 16 year old boy were killed after a stone along with earth mound collapsed on a house due to bad weather and rain at Dunuwila in Alawathuguda this morning.

Police said three children and their father and mother who were buried under the mound of earth were rescued and admitted to the Jambugas Pitiya Hospital.

A boy and a girl who were among the injured died on admission.

Police said an injured girl was transferred to Peradeniya Hospital for further treatment.

Alawathugoda police are conducting further investigations.(DSB)

To save more lives ; we need to advise people not to build house on hillside that is about slide ..it is a common sense that if you build a house in any hillside it can come down if it is in a shaky place or not in a solide place ...how many houses like this can be buried like this ? Who care about this..go and see around Kandy..to see houses how houses are built badly in hillsides ...one by one these houses could slide if those houses are not build in solide ground with solide concrete..May God protect all these people

They are from a poor family. There are lots of vulnerable families lives there. Need to give national attention so as to prevent further disasters. May they attend supreme Nibbana !

If the land is not suitable to build a house, Government must provide them with safe locations to construct a house. Shame on you Government .
