USA to help SLs to realize their dreams- US Ambassador



United States of America (USA) yesterday stretched its hands to Sri Lankans to realize their dreams with the opening of a new American Centre in Colombo and assured a friendship of joy.

US Ambassador in Colombo Julie Chung who was speaking during the opening of new American Centre in Colombo said USA will continue to invest in Sri Lankan people at this challenging time.

USA and Sri Lanka are friends and partners. We are valued democracies. This is a challenging time for Sri Lankans. USA continue to invest in people in Sri Lanka this library is an example of it. Let this friendship be a joy, Ms. Chung said.

“We open our doors to the public in Sri Lanka though this new centre. The American Centre has been awakening Sri Lankans seeking information on

the US and the world for more than 73 years. Thousands have joined skill development programme's, English Language learning and entrepreneurship, youth leaderships, innovation and engineering programme's ,” she recalled.

“This space is not mine it is your space. It Helps you achieve your dreams,” she said.

Situated in its new location at No. 210 Galle Road Colombo 3, the American Space provide free internet access, offers more than 40 online databases, English enrichment courses, interactive group discussion facilities, youth forums, provide guidelines for those who are interested in studying abroad and marker space programme's for entrepreneurs and social media digital story telling courses.
