Veteran actor Galhenage Rathnapala Perera better known as G.R. Perera passed away at the age of 83, family sources confirmed.

Perera has made a name for himself by acting in more than 550 television serials and 40 films, with a career spanning over five decades.

Details of the final rites will be announced later.
