Another coastal highway, similar to Colombo Marine Drive, is under development between Nainamadama and Chilaw via Iranawila in the Puttalam district.   Already, the government has completed work on   a stretch of 18 kilometres of the 32 kilometre road.  It is developed as a solution to traffic congestion on the Colombo-Puttalam road
