Sri Lanka Navy, on the occasion of  its 71st anniversary today (9 December), promoted 84 officers and 1,684 ratings were promoted or advanced to their next higher ranks or rates with the recommendation of Commander of Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne. On the side lines of these celebrations, capital ships of the Sri Lanka Navy will lay at anchor off Galle Face Green. The ships will be there on December 9 and 10, allowing the general public to view naval combat power.
