Soaring prices of essential food items including vegetables, gift items and textiles have sent the consumers reeling during the festive season.  People are busy with their Christmas and New Year shopping, but remain concerned over the rising living costs with no solution in sight.  They were observed purchasing left-over vegetables at times due to the high prices.
