Sri Lanka celebrated the International Labour Day on May 1 and all major political parties held rallies to mark it. Despite the massive crowds that attended these rallies, they offered very little to labourers and workers as the emphasis was either on regaining the lost power or maintaining the already acquired political power. Labour Days in Sri Lanka have been long hijacked by political parties. The picture shows a labourer in Colombo, who literally had no importance in the Sri Lankan Labour Day context (AFP Photo)
