The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) have launched a joint initiative to enhance the finance, accounting and business process management (BPM) sectors in Sri Lanka through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that seeks to leverage the strengths of both organisations to promote the development and professional growth of individuals within these vital industries.

The MoU centres on three primary objectives. First, the partnership will emphasise skill development and training by collaboratively designing and implementing programmes, workshops and seminars to upskill professionals in the finance, accounting and BPM sectors. The ACCA and SLASSCOM will also work together on research and development initiatives to identify industry trends, challenges and opportunities, thereby guiding policy decisions and fostering sector growth in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, both organisations will engage in advocacy and thought leadership, championing policies and regulations that support the sustainable growth of the finance, accounting and BPM industries.

Commenting on the agreement, ACCA South Asia Head Nilusha Ranasinghe stated, “This MoU marks a significant milestone in our mission to empower professionals in Sri Lanka with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global environment. Our collaboration with the SLASSCOM merges the best of finance, accounting and BPM expertise, paving the way for a brighter future for our members and the industries they serve.”

SLASSCOM Executive Director Chaminda De Silva added, “This partnership is aligned with our vision of positioning Sri Lanka as a global hub for BPM services. By combining the ACCA’s world-class accounting standards with our technological and business process management expertise, we are equipping professionals with the tools they need to succeed on the global stage.”

The MoU between the ACCA and SLASSCOM is anticipated to have a transformative impact on Sri Lanka’s professional landscape, driving innovation, enhancing competitiveness and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
