BOI-Brandix partner in US $ 1.06mn venture to establish glue bonding garment facility




The Board of Investment (BOI) recently signed an agreement worth US $ 1.06 million with Fusion Apparel, a joint venture of Brandix, to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility focused on glue bonding garments.

The facility will produce export-oriented glue bonding garments and will also offer glue bonding services to other BOI-registered companies, according to the BOI.“Further enhancing technology learning for the industry and providing 100 employment opportunities,” the BOI stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).The agreement for the venture was exchanged this week between the officials from the BOI and Fusion Apparel, on the BOI premises in Colombo.Glue bonding in garments is a modern method of joining fabric layers or parts using special adhesives, instead of stitching them together. The technology is mainly used to create seamless clothing varieties such as lightweight activewear, waterproof jackets, soft lingerie and durable outdoor gear.
