The event celebrated the spirit of Christmas by bringing friends and family together for a celebration of love and joy. 


Arpico invited its customers to participate in a joyful hands-on experience of traditional cake mixing to prepare Arpico’s signature Christmas cake. Embodying the warmth and cheer of holiday traditions, Arpico’s Christmas cake combines rich fruits, spices and nuts to create the ideal centrepiece for everyone’s celebrations. The event was not a mere cake mixing collaboration. It offered a moment for people to come together, share laughter and build connections that to last a lifetime.

The festive season has officially arrived at NH Collection Colombo and there’s no better way to mark the beginning of this joyous time than with the hotel’s much-anticipated cake mixing event. 


NH Collection Colombo Director Culinary Chef Priyantha Weerasinghe together with Chef Namal Kalubowila and the culinary team took the guests on a sensory journey as they mixed a delightful array of festive ingredients. Together, the talented duo will transform this blend of fruits, spices and spirits into an indulgent selection of holiday treats, including Plum Pudding, Plum Cake, the famous Christmas Fruit Cake, Dandee Cake, Mince Pie, Christollen and a delectable range of Christmas cookies. 


Speaking ahead of the event, the new NH Collection Colombo General Manager Yann Decaix shared his excitement for both the cake mixing tradition and his new role at the hotel.

Cinnamon Citadel Kandy, part of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, hosted its cherished annual Christmas cake mixing ceremony, recently, welcoming the season in grand style.

 
This year’s event not only celebrated the spirit of Christmas but also honoured the resort’s recent accolade as South Asia’s Leading Riverfront Hotel/Resort at South Asian Travel Awards 2024. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Mahaweli River, the occasion brought together loyal guests and resort staff for a memorable day of festivities.


The event commenced with an enchanting dance performance by students from the Senkadagala Special School, setting a joyous tone. Guests were then ceremoniously guided along the scenic Mahaweli River to the cake mixing area. 


In a gesture of unity and seasonal joy, guests joined in the lively preparation of the Christmas cake by mixing an array of dried fruits, spices and spirits.

The annual cake mixing ceremony featured a delightful combination of exotic fruits, aromatic spices and a selection of spirits, all combined with festive flair. 


Hosted by Occidental Eden General Manager Channa Ekanayake, the ceremony brought together general managers from Browns Hotels & Resorts properties across the island, in-house guests and team members, each contributing to the lively celebration.


The guests enjoyed Santa’s arrival and dynamic dance performances that set the tone for the vibrant season ahead, along with festive cocktails crafted to enhance the holiday atmosphere. Sun Siyam Pasikudah proudly joined the global celebration of the International Chef’s Day on October 20, 2024. On this special day, the hotel’s General Manager Arshed Refai led the celebrations, honouring the dedication of Sun Siyam Pasikudah’s chefs and cooks who contribute to the diverse culinary experiences the hotel is renowned for. 


This was followed by an exciting cake mixing event, hosted two days later, bringing guests together to celebrate the festive spirit. With an array of fresh ingredients, including dried fruits, spices and spirits, the participants enjoyed the interactive experience, blending tradition with fun.

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun at Pegasus Reef, where the much-anticipated annual cake mixing ceremony kicked off the hotel’s festive celebrations in a uniquely tropical style.


As chefs paraded the cake-mixing ingredients, the rhythmic beat of traditional drums filled the air, setting a festive mood. Guests actively participated in the age-old tradition of blending spices, fruits and nuts, symbolising good fortune and holiday cheer for the season ahead. 


Pegasus Reef General Manager Renuke Coswatte unveiled the theme for the season – ‘A Tropical Christmas at Pegasus’.


Guests were in for a delightful surprise when Santa himself appeared on a big screen, checking up on his Christmas cake order – a playful hint at the hotel’s upcoming festive fun.
