The Export Development Board (EDB) has formed a new trade facilitation task force to address the challenges rising within Sri Lanka’s export value chain.
The task force, composed of representatives from 35 public sector organisations directly involved in facilitating cross-border trade, will work collaboratively to identify and resolve the operational issues faced by the exporters.
The primary objective of the group is to swiftly identify and resolve the operational issues that hinder the exporters and develop targeted solutions to overcome the issues in the shortest possible time.
“The EDB seeks to foster cooperation between the institutions to streamline the trade processes, improve export efficiency and support the country’s economic growth. By reducing trade barriers and enhancing inter-agency collaboration, the task force will enable the exporters to boost their competitiveness in the global markets,” the EDB stated in a media release.
Moreover, the collaborative effort is expected to provide the exporters with better access to information, resources and solutions, to optimise their operations, which ultimately will help generate a greater export income for the country.
