EDB targets visibility boost with Thailand Expo Study Tour

The Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Embassy of Thailand, has organised a seven-day study tour to coincide with the 41st Thailand International Motor Expo 2024, in Bangkok.

The exploration programme is aimed at enhancing Sri Lanka’s visibility in the Southeast Asian automotive sector by taking part in one of the region’s most significant motor exhibitions.  Thailand, known for its strong automotive industry, is not only the largest producer in Southeast Asia but also ranks as the 11th largest automotive producer globally.

The motor show, hosted by the country, is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 06 this year.
Accordingly, the EDB has extended invitations to local manufacturers, exporters and service providers specialising in automobile parts, accessories and related sectors to participate in the tour.

Interested applicants are to download their application forms from the EDB website and submit them to the Director of Industrial Products by October 18, 2024. Selection will be based on an interview process conducted by an EDB panel.

The board will provide financial assistance for a portion of the airfare and internal travel expenses for one representative per selected company, subject to the available funds.

The key components of the study tour will include attendance at the Thailand International Motor Expo, visits to automotive component manufacturing companies and meetings with component certification institutions.
The programme will also facilitate direct business linkages (B2B) with prominent automobile manufacturers in the country, according to the EDB.
