EDEX Education Expo, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest education expos, is to kick off its mid-year expo today. It is to be held till September 8, 2024, at the Bandaranaike International Memorial Hall (BMICH), in Colombo, marking 20 years since its inception in 2004.

This year’s event will feature over 150 education stalls and 25 job fair stalls, including tertiary education, vocational training and skill development institutes, along with corporate entities, providing attendees with access to a diverse range of options in higher education, training, employment and entrepreneurship.

Local and international higher educational institutions, representing countries like Australia, Japan, Canada, Malaysia and Germany will showcase the courses and various training programmes to better equip students for the global job market.

As per the tradition over the years, the mid-year expo will partner with top Sri Lankan companies offering on-site interviews and immediate recruitment opportunities.

EDEX Careers will provide psychometric testing, to help students and job seekers of all ages find their ideal career paths. Furthermore, career seminars will be held on the sidelines of the expo, where industry experts will discuss trends in the Job market.

EDEX Expo 2024 Project Chairman Chathushika Nissanka said, “We believe that by providing access to quality education, career guidance and entrepreneurial resources, we are not only building individual success stories but also contributing to the development of a vibrant and competitive workforce for Sri Lanka.”

EDEX Chairman Mahinda Galagedara said, “The EDEX Mid-Year Expo is an ideal opportunity for our youth who have just completed their London O/Ls and A/Ls. We encourage those in the higher education sector to maximise on this platform, to support our youth in making informed educational and career decisions.”

The event is endorsed by key government bodies and strategic partners like Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Employer’s Federation of Ceylon, highlighting its significance to both industry chambers and employers.
