Korea steps in with US$ 10.2mn to help Sri Lanka tackle trash

The Government of Korea has granted US$ 10.20 million to Sri Lanka to improve solid waste management practices in the Uva and Northern provinces.

The funds will be used to implement an indirect economic development project that will establish a solid waste management mechanism at the local government level during the period 2024-2028.

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya received Cabinet approval for the project this week, which will be carried out with technical support from the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and financial assistance from the Korean Government.
